I am not going to hide that I ditched all office related apps for Quickoffice. Prior to doing that, I used OfficeSuite Pro 7 very often. It is one of highest rated mobile office apps out there. It regularly sells for $15 and it is free today only at the Amazon Appstore.
This app does exactly what it is supposed to do. You start a MS Word document, MS Excel spreadsheet, a PowerPoint presentation and more. The folks at Mobile systems recently added support for Box and improved compatibility with Swiftkey and Swype. Here are some of the main features:
Side bar navigation in the File Browser for quick access to different folders and remote third party cloud services
Templates – OfficeSuite Pro 7 users can benefit from a wide range of templates, from Resume and Invoice templates to Travel Planner and Weight Loss Tracker templates, among others
Extended Cloud support – now compatible with Microsoft SkyDrive. Google Drive support has been improved, by adding folder support, thus allowing for optimized document view
Styles – apply MS Word styles or styles used in the document
Table design – ability to fashion an inserted table as per our library of tailor-made designs
Formulas (display only)
Animations in presentations
A new PDF engine using library from Adobe, providing instant opening of large PDF files

If you’re into rooting and want to have an all-in-one tool, the ever popular ROM Toolbox Pro is on sale for $2.99–that’s 40% off folks. On the other hand, if you have been on the fence of getting ‘Tasker,’ now is the time to make a move. The famous automation app is on sale for only $1.99–down from $5.99. Takser allows you set your phone to do a specific set of actions depending on many factors like time, date or location; the combination are insane. It is simply a must have app!
If you love anything related to Google, you should definitely check out this cool wallpaper made by developer ‘kuuji.’ It is called Google Now Live Wallpaper and as its name suggests, it displays some of Google Now’s backgrounds. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see any animations because the wallpaper actually changes depending on the time of the day. Some of the available scenes are Austin, Plage (beach), Berlin, Chicago, London, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Bois (woods) and a default screen. Currently, the app is in French but the developer promises that the next version will include an English translation.
Kuuji’s application looks very promising. It does however need some work just like any new app out there. The wallpapers are surely reminiscent of Google Now and we’re big fans. Hit the link below to download and let us know what you think.

The wait is over folks! Pinterest has finally come to Android after being available for iOS for a while. You can now pin stuff you find in the web, look up content that interests you and more. While I only played with the application for a little while, I’d say that it is pretty smooth and looks very similar to Pinterest’s site. Here are its features:
Pin what you love from around the web
Discover content by browsing interest categories
Explore pins and boards curated by pinners you follow
Repin, like and comment on your favorite pins
Pin with your camera
So what are you waiting for, head to the Play Store and give Pinterest a try!
OneLouder Apps, the makers TweetCaster and BaconReader, have launched a new Twitter client called Slices. Unlike the other Twitter app, Slices actually lets you make custom-made streams depending on your interests. It also allows you to browse and manage Twitter content using their 21 preloaded categories. Here are its main features:
Finding Follows – Slices is the only Twitter app with Explore. Explore is a directory of all of Twitter. With 21 browsable, searchable categories, finding people and lists to follow is astonishingly easy and fun.
Live Events – Only Slices has Live Event streams, finally making it easy to follow live events on Twitter. Each stream displays a feed of tweets from the “right” people for today’s events, like sports, TV shows, and other happenings.
Timeline Slicer – Another exclusive feature, the Timeline Slicer helps you organize your timeline into “Slices”. These are mini-feeds that you define, letting you read what you want, when you want it.
Bookmarks – Anyone who browses the web is familiar with the Bookmark concept. But Slices is the first Twitter app with bookmarks. Just like on a web browser, you can bookmark favorite Twitter accounts or lists for easy access.
Mobile-to-Web – Slices lives on your Android phone AND the Slices website. All your actions are automatically synchronized. No struggle to find where you left off, or notifications of messages/mentions that you have already seen.
Bookmarking your favorite Twitter accounts is also a feature that slices brings to the table. OneLouder Apps is in the process of launching a web interface of Slices which will be synchronized with the mobile app. Hit the download links below and let us know what you think.

While I was browsing on the recommended app section in the Play Store, I bumped into this cool live wallpaper called Paperland Live Wallpaper. It is offered in two versions, free and paid ($0.99).
Folks who are into customizing their live wallpapers will definitely enjoy the 9 different (paid version) scenes which can be combined with 11 themes. Some of the scenes include clouds, stars, hills, mountains, trees and boats. While the themes include Amethyst, Beach, Desert, Marina, Papery Land, Sunset and more. The app also gives you the option to take a screenshot of your current configuration and share it with your friends. And if you don’t feel like tweaking the wallpaper, you can use the “randomize” option which generates different configurations.
In addition, this application offers a couple of widgets which will allow you to access the settings menu or to randomize the LWP. If you’re into paper style wallpapers, you should definitely give Paperland Live Wallpaper a try (links below).

I don’t know about you but I use Evernote to save all of my notes on-the-fly. Evernote for Android received another major update today bringing a new ICS look, a slew of new enhancements and updating its software version to 4.0. Here is the changelog:
Completely new look
New home screen lets you create and find your notes easily
Redesigned note list for easier reading and browsing
Updated notebook list unifies user notebooks with shared notebooks
New contextual Action Bars for easy access to functionality
Swipe right from your note and note list to show the home screen
Swipeable navigation to go from Notebook to Tag to Place views
I have to admit that I am really liking this new UI and that the app seems to run a bit smoother than before. Although, they adopted an ICS-like look, they still kept some of their signature icons and designs which I don’t blame them for doing if they want to differentiate themselves from other brands. If you want to grab the update, hit the download links below.
Turntable.fm for Android is now available at the Play Store. If you have never heard of it, it is an app that lets its users share music with their friends and other people using the app. You can create your own room which consists of up to five DJs or you can simply search for one, depending on what type of music you like. Once you’re a DJ, you will be able to add songs to your queue and play them in a whatever order you’d like. Listeners will then rate your selection and some of your songs will be skipped in case they get too many lame votes. Not only you get to be DJ but you can also interact with other people in your room.
Turntable.fm definitely adds a cool twist to music streaming. You and your friends can enjoy music together while chatting via your devices no matter what operating system they’re using. The app is available for devices running Android 2.2 and higher. If you want to give it a try, hit the download links below.

I am going to admit that I am an avid online shopper and Jonathan could definitely tell you all about it. I mainly shop at Newegg and Amazon and although it is relatively easy to check my orders statuses, I still have to, sometimes, enter order numbers manually on my phone. Anyways, I just came across Slice, an order-tracking application that is now available at the Play Store for free.
Slice is an application that works with your email (Gmail and Yahoo). You’ll have to use your credentials in order for it to access your shipping confirmation emails. It will enable you to track every online purchase you made until it arrives at your doorstep. Slice allows you to add up to five email accounts, just in case you have that many. One of my favorite features of this app is that it alerts you when there is a price drop on a recent purchase, so you can get a price adjustment. You can even “track of your Groupons, Living Social and Gilt City vouchers.”
If you are an online shopper, go and grab Slice! We included the Play store link below.
Have you ever downloaded a game from Gameloft? If so, you probably had to install the app and then download a large expansion file (1-3GB) over Wi-Fi. I don’t know about you but I find that really annoying. Thankfully, Google has decided to do something about it. They announced today that they are upping the size of applications from 50MB to a whooping 4GB. However, APK files will keep the usual 50MB size limit.
With this new 4GB size limit, Android developers will have the ability to upload two expansion files with up to 2GB in size in each. This means that you will be able to safely download an application directly from Google servers instead of going to the developer’s.
Rest assured that before you download a specific application and especially games, you will be able to see the size of the file first, which will allow you to make sure you have enough space on your device or microSD card. Another cool thing is that the 15 minute return window now starts at the end of the download of the whole app, whereas before it expired before the expansion file even finished loading.
If you were looking for a mobile security app for your Android phone and didn’t want to spend money to get it, you may want to take a look at Cerberus. It is normally a free app that comes with a free trial but you’ll have to spend around $4.31 to get a lifetime license. Cerberus is pretty similar to SeekDroid. It allows you to track your lost Android phone by using your GPS, even if it is turned off. You can remotely access your device, wipe your personal data, lock it, record audio using the microphone, get a list of last calls sent and received and even get the information about the network your stolen phone is connected to.
Cerberus is one of the highest rated mobile security Android apps at the Market and it shows. It has been downloaded over 100,000 times and to celebrate this great achievement, the folks behind it, LSDroid, decided to give away free lifetime licenses ($4.31) to anyone who downloads the app and signs up for an account (Cerberus name + email). Once you do that, go here and fill out the form. This giveaway is scheduled to end on February 29, 2012 and all “licenses will be activated on March 1.”

Evernote released a new “major” update for their popular Android app. It is now available at the Android Market and will update you to version to 3.5. Here are the new additions (from Evernote):
There are times when you need to remember something on the go — a fast snapshot or a quick voice memo. Evernote is great for that. The problem was, how to find those notes later? In this update, we’ve come up with a great solution: auto-titles for untitled notes. Now, Evernote will create a title based on the content of the note and time that the note was created, making it much easier to find it later.
Improved image layout in notes
We’ve also made some improvements to how snapshots appear inside your notes. There is now padding around images, so if a note contains several images, they show up nicely spaced and easier to view. As always, if you tap on an image, you can view it in full-screen view. A long tap lets you annotate it in Skitch.
If you compose lengthy notes on your phone or tablet, then you’ll like our new Save feature. Tap the Save button in the note and a version will be saved to your device’s memory. No need to exit the note. When you’re finished, tap Done and the note will Sync.
Along with these new features, you will also find your usual bug fixes and other UI enhancements. As a side note, the PC version has also been updated with updated PDF functionality.
