Verizon Wireless adding and expanding 4G LTE service in many cities on May 17

Mark your calendars. On May 17, Verizon Wireless will be turning on the 4G LTE switch on new markets in the east coast. In addition, they will be expanding their fast 4G LTE service in many existing east coast markets, too. At the moment, Verizon’s 4G LTE service is available to 2/3 of the U.S. population in over 230 markets. Once this planned upgrade is completed on May 17, the number of people and markets with 4G LTE service will greatly increase.

On May 17, 2012, the following markets will be getting their first taste of Verizon’s fast 4G LTE network:

  • Benton Harbor, Michigan
  • Benton Heights, Michigan
  • Coloma Charter Twp., Michigan
  • Fair Plain, Michigan
  • Lake Michigan Beach, Michigan
  • Paw Paw Lake, Michigan
  • Shoreham, Michigan
  • St. Joseph, Michigan
  • Watervliet, Michigan
  • Ashtabula, Ohio
  • Bucyrus, Ohio
  • Defiance, Ohio
  • Barnesboro, Pennsylvania
  • Clarion, Pennsylvania
  • Franklin, Pennsylvania
  • New Castle, Pennsylvania
  • Northern Cambria County, Pennsylvania (parts of)
  • Oil City, Pennsylvania
  • Somerset, Pennsylvania
  • Fredericksburg, Virginia
  • Martinsville, Virginia

In addition to the new markets listed above, Verizon Wireless will also be expanding coverage in some cities. Those of you listed in the cities below could see better signal reception, increased data, and more once Verizon expands its 4G LTE network in your area.
