Sony and Google show off new Google TV box at the first-ever Google TV and Sony Meetup

The Google TV team and Sony got together for a special meetup where they discussed Google TV and showed the next version of Sony’s Google TV box. While not much specifics were given about Sony’s upcoming plans with Google TV, they did manage to show off a non-working prototype of Sony’s upcoming Google TV set top box.

Specs-wise, not much is known about the new Google TV set top box. Design-wise, it’s a completely redesigned device. For starters, the set top box is now black and appears to be larger than the older Sony Internet TV Blu-Ray. In addition to the redesigned set top box, the remote on control on the new Sony Google TV box has been completely redesigned, too. The remote is now double-sided with a keyboard on one side, and traditional remote controls on the other side.

The product hasn’t been officially announced yet, so there’s no information on pricing or official specs. You can expect it to have better specs than the old model, and maybe a lower price tag.

The entire meetup was recorded with Google’s new Hangouts on Air, so you can go ahead and watch the entire event, if you want.
