Samsung to update the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note in Q1 2012, other devices to follow

Samsung has announced its plans to update some of its Galaxy line of products to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest and greatest version of Android. The Android 4.0 update will start in Q1 2012 with the Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note. Other devices that are upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich, specifically the Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.0, and Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, will have their update date announced at a later time.

There’s no specific date on when the update process will start. Samsung will make announcement for each device when they’re ready to update it.

Missing from that list is specific information on the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S II. Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile have their own variants, with AT&T having two. Of course, since these are also Galaxy S II devices, they could fall under Q1 update period.

If you’re rocking the Samsung Infuse on AT&T, expect to get Ice Cream Sandwich at a much, much later date; maybe sometime around December 2012 (after all, you’re still on 2.2).
