Samsung announced today that they sold over 10 million Galaxy S III devices worldwide in less than two months since its launch. J.k. Shin, big boss of Samsung Mobile, predicted last month that the sales will hit the 10 million mark thanks to its product’s presence in over 140 countries and 295 carriers around the globe.
“It appears that it (accumulated sales) has exceeded 10 million units.” said Mr. Shin.
Samsung hasn’t been clear about if the numbers presented are about sales to customers or retailers. For the sake of comparison, it took the Galaxy S II over five months to reach the 10 million mark. With a larger 4.8-inch display, faster processor and a smoother OS, the Galaxy S III, it just makes sense that consumers are flocking towards this one more quickly. Samsung’s impressive marketing campaign–including sponsoring the Summer Olympics–will definitely help them conserve their title as top smartphone maker in the world.
