Samsung finally unveils the Galaxy S III, packs 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 4.8-inch HD display, 4G LTE

After weeks of suspense, Samsung has finally made the Galaxy S III official here in London during their Unpacked 2012 event. They claim that the Galaxy S III was “designed for humans and inspired by nature.”

The 8.6mm thick Galaxy S III will have the following features:

  • 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD 1280 x 720 display
  • 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos
  • Android 4.0
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8-megapixel rear camera
  • 1.9-megapixel from camera
  • 16/32GB internal memory
  • HSPA and LTE capabilities
  • 2100 mAh battery

Samsung is planning on launching the Galaxy S III in the coming weeks worldwide and as expected the U.S. will be last to carry the phone which will be launched sometimes in the summer. The South Korean company also mentioned that the GS III will be the official device of the Summer Olympics this year.

Samsung Mobile is planning a U.S. version of Galaxy S III, optimized for the fastest LTE and HSPA+ networks in the U.S., which will be available in the summer of 2012. Exact timing and retail channel availability is not being announced at this time. We believe the Galaxy S III is the most anticipated product in the 20-year history of Samsung Mobile; therefore, we will continue to share information as it becomes available.
