Qualcomm introduces new S4 Snapdragon processors

Not to let NVIDIA shine with the announcement of its quad-core Tegra 3 processor, Qualcomm has gone ahead and announced their new line of Snapdragron S4 class processors that will soon be available on many smartphones and tablets.

The new Snapdragon S4 class processors are aimed at lowering design, engineering, and inventory costs will make its way to phones and tablets starting in 2012. The following 8 Snapdragon S4 processors were introduced today:

  • MSM8660A
  • MSM8260A
  • MSM8630
  • MSM8230
  • MSM8627
  • MSM8227
  • APQ8060A
  • APQ8030

In addition to announcing new S4 processors, Qualcomm also announced that four of its S1 processors, which is used on lower-end phones, have been upgraded to deliver better performance.
