Official: Samsung unveils Tizen-based smartwatch Gear S with 3G connectivity, curved display
We just received an official word from Samsung that they will be launching a new Tizen-based smartwach called the Galaxy Gear S. Samsung says that it will “deliver up-to-date smart wearable experience with 3G connectivity.” Other than running on Tizen, this thing looks beautiful.
The Gear S packs a 2-inch curved Super AMoled display with a 360 x 480 resolution, 300 mAh battery (2 day usage), Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Heart Rate, Ambient Light, UV and Barometer. It also comes with 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, 2G/3G connectivity, S Health and a 1GHz dual-core processor. It is also IP67-certified meaning that it is dust and water resistant-just like the other Gear devices.
Samsung says that the Gear S along with the Gear Circle (bluetooth headphones) will be available via Samsung’s retail channels, “e-commerce websites” and carriers in early October. I am going to say it again, this smartwatch looks beautiful but why pick the Tizen OS. What do you guys think?
