O2 UK customers with Xperia Arc, Ray, and Neo to remain on Gingerbread

If you’re an Xperia Arc, Xperia Ray, or Xeperia Neo user on O2 in the UK, there’s some not-so-good news for you. Despite Sony releasing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for your device, the highly-anticipated updated won’t actually make it to your device.

O2 UK has decided to block the ICS update on those devices. According to O2, they are blocking the update on the Xperia Arc, Ray, and Neo due to performance issues. Basically, O2 is saying that the update slows down the phones and lowers performance, two things it doesn’t want its customers to experience.

So, if you own an Xperia Ray, Arc, or Neo on O2, we hate to say this, but you will remain on Gingerbread. If you own an unlocked model of the device, you’re safe.
