NVIDIA SHIELD tablet to get Android 5.0 Lollipop this month

A couple of weeks ago, I talked about the NVIDIA SHIELD tablet and how it could be a great option to those of you who do not want to shed top money for the Nexus 9. Today, NVIDIA reconfirmed my recommendation. They announced that their tablet is set to get Android 5.0 Lollipop this month, pretty much the same time as the Nexus 7, and earlier than other Android tablets. This is impressive.

The Lollipop update will be pushed over the air. It will bring a slew of improvements including a new UI for the NVIDIA app and Dabbler. Other than that, the chip maker did not give us any more details in the video below. We’ll keep you guys updated once the OTA is rolling out.

Let us know if this announcement is making you consider the SHIELD tablet over the Nexus 9.
