Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi is already getting the Android 3.1 update

We told you yesterday that the Verizon Motorola Xoom will the first one to get the update to Android 3.1 while the Wi-Fi version was set for to get it at a later date. Many Wi-Fi Xoom owners have been reporting that their tablets have been getting the HMJ37 update as early as this morning.

If you have one of these babies and you are not sure about how to check for the update: Go to Settings > About Tablet > System Updates and your table will automatically check for it.

As announced at Google I/O, the Android 3.1 update will bring to your Motorola Xoom these features:

  • Support the new movie rental feature in the Android Market
  • Ability to resize widgets
  • Support USB-connected peripherals and accessories like keyboards, mice, game controllers and digital cameras
  • Use Bluetooth headsets on video chat sessions on Google Talk
  • Enable the Picture Transfer Protocol feature to allow smooth transfer to a PC without the need for drivers
