Motorola and Verizon announce the Droid RAZR M, Droid RAZR HD, and Droid RAZR Maxx HD

The number of handsets available on Verizon from Motorola has just increased by 3. At today’s press event in New York City, Verizon and Motorola announced the Droid RAZR M, Droid RAZR HD, and the Droid RAZR Maxx HD. All three phones will be available on Verizon wireless starting from $99.

Droid RAZR M

The first of the 3 phones is the Droid RAZR M. The Droid RAZR M features the lowest specs out of all three phones, but still looks like a decent phone. It features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 960×540 resolution, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with support for an additional 32GB via microSD card, a front-facing camera and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording video at 1080P HD. The Droid RAZR M will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the end of the year. Battery-wise, the RAZR M will sport a 2000mAh battery, slightly larger than the original but still below the RAZR Maxx’s 3300mAh battery.

The Droid RAZR M will be available in both black and white and will sell for $99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with a new 2-year contract. Pre-orders for the device will begin today at www.verizonwireless.com/droidrazrm and will be available on September 13 at Verizon Wireless stores and online at Verizon Wireless.

Droid RAZR HD

The second phone announced at today’s press conference was the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, the successor to the original RAZR. The RAZR HD features a large 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD slot for an additional 32GB of storage. The phone features a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that’s capable to recording videos in 1080P HD.

The Droid RAZR HD will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean before the end of the year. Powering the phone is a powerful 2500mAh battery that will get you through the day.

The RAZR HD will be available in both black and white before the holiday season. Unfortunately, no specific launch date was made available. In addition, pricing information wasn’t revealed, either.

Droid RAZR MAXX HD

Last but not least, Motorola announced the Droid RAZR Maxx HD. Just like the Droid RAZR HD, the RAZR Maxx HD features the same specs, except for when it comes to battery power. Instead of the 2500mAh battery, the RAZR Maxx HD will come equipped with a larger 3300mAh battery, just like the original RAZR Maxx.

The RAZR Maxx HD will be available in black and will launch at some point before the 2012 holiday season. Unfortunately, exact launch date or pricing information wasn’t revealed.
