Today, you can grab the Microsoft Office Mobile for Android for free. To clarify things, it was always free to download but it required its users to have an Office 365 subscription. Since everyone isn’t subscribed to the service, Android users reverted to using other office apps such as Quickoffice or OfficeSuite 7 Pro.

At first, everyone was expecting Office to be available for the iPad. Thankfully, Microsoft had other plans, great plans for us Android phone users. This is a strategic move by the software giant who is trying to focus its efforts on being available for other platforms than its own such as Android and iOS.

I have been using Quickoffice since it was acquired by Google and haven’t used any other office-related apps. I might give Office a shot after all but not sure if I will be able to get over not backing up my files to Google Drive.  Anyway, if you’d like to give Microsoft’s Office Mobile app a try, head to the Play Store.
