Major Transformer Prime update to be available on 3/29, will bring new features and more

There are some “awesome new features” coming to the Asus Transformer Prime next week. Asus’s Italy Facebook Page has gone ahead and released those new awesome features that will make many Transformer Prime owners happy.

According to Asus Italy, the Transformer Prime will be receiving update 9.4.2.21 which will include the following changes.

  • Lock screen notification management – you will now be able to view/delete notification directly from the lock screen. In addition, you will also be able to launch apps directly from the lock screen
  • New Play apps – the new Google Play apps will be added to the Transformer Prime (Play Music, Play Store, Play Books)
  • Asus Vibe update – The Asus Vibe entertainment portal will be updated to version 2.0 from 1.0. The update will bring an improved interface and more content
  • LAN cable support – The Transformer Prime will be able to connect to networks via LAN cable. This type of connection will require the Ethernet to USB converter US series, which is sold separately.

In addition to the above new features, Asus has also implemented some features that have been requested by users of the Transformer Prime. Those features are listed below.

  • New mechanism for camera updates – From now on, instead of rolling out camera updates individually, the updates for the camera will be part of the image updates
  • Ad-hoc network support – The transformer prime will now be able to connect to ad-hoc networks
  • HDMI output options – users will be able to switch between portrait and landscape mode.

According to Asus Italy, the update is supposed to start rolling out tomorrow, March 29. There’s no word whether the update will start rolling out to all Transformer Prime owners or just those in Italy.
