Yesterday, we were able to spend some time with the upcoming HTC Desire Eye during the ‘Double Exposure’ event in New York City. HTC talked about how they listened to your feedback and were able to come up with this phone which I call the ‘selfie phone.’
The Desire Eye is basically an HTC One M8 in a plastic-waterproof body – except that it has 2 13-megapixel cameras with flash in the front and back. The phone looks and feels really nice in person. HTC has done a really good job giving it a minimalist look which I really like. The question is will this phone dethrone the One M8. I personally doubt it unless you’re really into taking selfies or simply want to upgrade the dual 4MP camera.
The Desire Eye packs HTC ‘s latest Eye Experience software along with 3 speakers powered by BoomSound. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD slot (up to 128GB), 2,400 mAh ( smaller than the M8’s) and Android KitKat with Sense 6.25 on top of it.
Here is our quick hands-on with the Desire Eye. Let us know what you think.
