Over the weekend, Google pushed out an update to its popular NFC-based payment system, Google Wallet. According to the change log, the update includes support for new device form factors, prepaid topup improvements, and security enhancements. While it’s nice that Google is constantly working on Wallet to make it better, you can clearly see from the comments that many users, especially those with an HTC Evo 4G LTE on Sprint, aren’t happy about the app.
Despite the app being updated, it still doesn’t work on the Evo 4G LTE, and phone owners are upset about it. Sprint and Google have been quiet on the situation and users, causing even more frustration with its users. Here are some of comments from the frustrated Evo 4G LTE owners when it comes to Google Wallet not working:
Yuro rated it one star and gave it the following review:
And so I’ve gone without Google wallet my entire work vacation and still after this update wallet wont work on my Evo. I wake up every day and check for an update and they release one today… But i guess not for us. I still cant use it and not only missing the 50 dollar deadline because Evo’s were held up, now i cant access my 10 dollars to use the app that sold me this phone. This is ridiculous.
Anthony rated it one star and wrote the following:
Don’t understand why it is taking so long to fix gw for EVO LTE. I can’t root or factory reset until they fix it because last time it bricked my NFC chip. This app is a liability and it doesn’t work. Honestly deserves a negative star because it kills capability.
Morenicano rated it one star and left the following review:
I understand there may be an issue with something but it has been more than a month since it stopped working and barely any feedback about a resolution. I really want to use this but can’t. Do you guys really intend to restore functionality for this phone?
Why some think that Wallet is not working on Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G LTE because of technical issues, others believe that the app has been because of Sprint. Just like Verizon, Sprint is rumored to be launching its own mobile payment system, just like Wallet. Google Wallet on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has not been officially supported since the phone was released in December 2011.
The only thing that we can do at this point is wait and see how this rolls out. Hopefully, Google will fix this situation and make the app functional again on the Evo 4G LTE. For those of you who are enjoying Google Wallet, make sure that you head over to the Google Play store and grab the latest update.
