Android Platform September numbers now available; KitKat runs on 24.5% of devices

The number are in folks. The Android platform September stats are showing a continuing growth of Android 4.4 KitKat which increased its share up to 24.5%, 3.6% higher than last month. Jelly Bean comes in second at 53.8% with a slight decline from last month. Surprisingly, Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) is still ahead of Ice cream Sandwich by 1.8% (11.4%>9.6%). Froyo on the other hand is going toward extinction, sitting at 0.7%. I have not seen a phone running on Android 2.2 in ages though.
