Want more battery life on your Droid RAZR? Simply mod it and install the Droid RAZR Maxx’s battery

Are you one of the people that purchased a Droid RAZR only to later find out that Motorola was going to release the Droid RAZR Maxx, an identical phone with a longer-lasting battery? If you were pissed (like so many people were), you might be happy to know that there’s hope for you, in terms of getting the Razr Maxx’s battery on your original RAZR.

XDA Developer user wardo5757 has discovered that the Droid RAZR Maxx’s battery fits and works on the original Droid RAZR. Wardo5757 took apart both of his RAZR’s (Maxx and original) and discovered that despite the RAZR MAXX’s thicker 3300mAh extended battery, it still fit and worked properly on the original RAZR. In addition to the battery fitting, the RAZR Maxx’s back cover also fit properly on the original RAZR. The only minor problem is that there is a gap between the SIM card door and the cover, as you can see in the picture below.

So, for all of you RAZR owners out there, there’s hope for you. All you need to find is a replacement battery and back cover and you can go ahead and follow iFixIt’s guide to taking apart the RAZR, and you should be good to go.
