An Alpha 0 build of CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0) has been made available for everyone to try out for the HP Touchpad. Before you get all excited, you should know that there are a number of things that do not work with this zero alpha. Below is a list of things that still not functioning on the CM9 Alpha 0 for the HP TouchPad:
- Hardware video (OMX) – this means no Netflix and only non-HD videos work in YouTube
- Audio isn’t working right; microphone doesn’t work well
- Camera doesn’t work
- Market filters prevent certain apps from being installed
- Titanium Backup crashes the kernel
- Most of the hardware problems from CM7 still exists in CM9
- Gapps intended for CM7/Gingerbread will not work in CM9/ICS
In addition to the release of this alpha build, the CyanogenMod team has also released the source code for CM9 for the TouchPad. So, if you’re a coder and are interested in helping squash some bugs, you can do so now. AS always, the CM team has done a great job with getting Android running on the HP TouchPad and we all look forward to a stable release of CM9 for the TouchPad.
