Video: Hands on with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9

Today, I got a chance to take a look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, the smaller version of the popular Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be available on October 2 and will come in two flavors: a 16GB model which will cost you $470 and a 32GB model that will cost you $570.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is the features a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, an 8.9-inch WXGA 1280×800 TFT display, Android 3.1 with the TouchWiz UX ui, front and rear-facing cameras at 2 and 3-megapixels, respectively, and much more.

The Samsung representative on-site was able to give us a good rundown on the Galaxy Tab 8.9, so make sure that you check out the video below.

In the video the demonstrator mentions that the 8.9 has a Samsung 1Ghz dual core processor, NOT a Tegra 2 as listed in the article specs. I sure hope that’s true and that it doesn’t have the apparent video playback limitations of the Tegra 2. The official Samsung product page only says it has a 1Ghz dual core processor and doesn’t say that it’s a Tegra 2 so hopefully that means the demonstator’s comment is correct.
