Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam defends AT&T, T-Mobile merger

Verizon’s own Chief Executive Lowell McAdam has voiced his support for the AT&T. T-Mobile merger during an investor conference yesterday. Let’s not forget that AT&T is Verizon’s direct competitor and if this deal goes through, Big Red will definitely loose it current throne of top U.S. carrier.

I have taken the position that the AT&T merger with T-Mobile was kind of like gravity

McAdam then explained to investors that the T-Mobile deal “had to occur, because you had a company with a T-Mobile that had the spectrum but didn’t have the capital to build it out. AT&T needed the spectrum, they didn’t have it in order to take care of their customers, and so that match had to occur.” He added that the Federal Communications Commission should look at the current state of the spectrum and provide a solution to it instead of just trying to block the merger. Surprising move coming from Verizon…What do you guys think?
