Verizon to release the Samsung Galaxy S II in July (Update: not happening)

by Zack NebbakiJune 8, 2011

Update: ComputerWorld just confirmed that there was a miscommunication between them and the Verizon spokesperson. They talked about the Galaxy Tab and not the Galaxy S II. What a bummer!

All I can say is that I am liking this succesion of news about a U.S. release of the Samsung Galaxy S II. Initially, we reported that Sprint was planning to release the Samsung Galaxy Attain (their version of the SGS2) before the end of July. And now, there is a report from ComputerWorld, that they received an email from a Verizon spokesperson stating that Big Red is prepping for a July release for the Galaxy S II without sharing an exact date.

We suspect that Samsung will make an announcement i the upcoming weeks because they are currently working on promoting the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is planned for a June 17th launch. Verizon will be offering the Galaxy S II under the name: Galaxy Function.
