It looks like a “lucky” XDA user Nate2569, as he claims, received two software updates to his Motorola Atrix 4G. We have been hearing reports that AT&T has been planning on releasing an update to enable HSUPA on both the Atrix 4G and the Inspire 4G in the month of April.
“I just got a software update to 1.7.5??? I haven’t seen it mentioned on forum…. Anyone else see this?”
“Ok. I updated to 1.8.3 and did another speed test. 2.9Mbps down and 1.6Mbps up.”
Nate2569 claims that he first received the update 4.1.75.MB860.ATT.en.US and his device also shows the version 2.2.2 of Android (I have the 2.2.1 on my Atrix). He then says that he got prompted for another update later on and that this time, the Motorola version was 4.1.83. He finally claims that his speed test results were 2.9Mbps for downloads and 1.6Mbps for upload speeds.
If Nate2569’s statements are proven to be real, this shows that the Motorola Atrix will probably get the proclaimed HSUPA update soon, along with an Android “mini-update”. It is possible that he received the updates because he owns a developer version of the Atrix. We’d advise you to take it with a grain of salt. We will report if anything changes.
Update: We attached some other pictures of the Atrix 4G with uncapped upload speeds.
