U.S. Cellular HTC Merge receives Gingerbread update, still has issues

U.S. Cellular HTC Merge owners are going to receive a Gingerbread update (build number 3.05.573.1) for their cherished phone. The Merge current Android OS version will get bumped to android 2.3.4 which will bring a slew of new enhancements.

Unfortunately, this new update will not come over-the-air and requires you to use a Windows-based PC with HTC sync. Your HTC Merge will then get wiped clean which means that you it will go back to stock and will loose all kinds of information such as pictures, emails, apps and other personal stuff unless you have them saved on your MicroSD card.
If you have had issues updating your phone, U.S. Cellular is aware of the issue and are working with HTC to come up with a fix. We’ll keep you posted.
