Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE to be in customers’ hands on or around May 24

The wait for the HTC Evo 4G LTE is soon to be over. After being delayed at U.S. Customs due to ban imposed by the US ITC, the phone is set to start shipping for arrival on or around May 24, 2012.

Since Sprint says that the first batch of phones will should expected on or around May 24, that means that the phones will most likely shipa day or two prior to that date. According to Sprint, people who pre-ordered the device online would be the first ones to receive it. Unfortunately, for the rest of us who didn’t pre-order, no specific nationwide launch date was made available.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE was supposed to launch on May 18 but was indefinitely delayed at U.S. Customs due to ban imposed on HTC devices by the ITC after it ruled in favor of Apple. Although HTC says it fixed the problems that caused the ban, shipments of the phones were being held at customs until it could be verified that all infringing issues had been resolved.

Also stuck at customs were shipments of the HTC One X on AT&T. AT&T has made any announcements on when they can expect to restock their supply of the new flagship device from HTC.

Late last week, Best Buy announced to people who pre-ordered the device that it would be available on May 23, but they quickly redacted their statement and told customers that they didn’t know when the phones would be available.

We’ll be sure to let you know the new official launch date for the device once it’s made official by Sprint.
