Samsung plans to block iPhone 5 sales in Korea

A report from Korean Times claims that Samsung is planning to ban the sales of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 in its home turf, South Korea. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone since both phone manufacturers have been going at it for a while now. There are over 23 lawsuits that are pending between Samsung and Apple all over the world. The Korean company was forced to halt its sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany, where they were also constrained to remove their Galaxy Tab 7.7 from their booths at the IFA convention in Berlin earlier this month.

A Samsung senior executive whose identity is kept secret claimed:

Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung’s wireless technology related patents

He then added:

For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.

With statements like the ones above, Samsung is definitely looking to change its stance in its legal battles against Apple. We will be seeing a more aggressive approach from the Galaxy phone manufacturer and this is becoming very interesting.
