Samsung looks to block the sale of iPhone 4S in France and Italy

The patent wars between Samsung and Apple are not going anywhere anytime soon. The latest in the war between Samsung and Apple is brought to you by Samsung, who says that they will be filling patent infringement claims against Apple in France and Italy to ban the sale of the newly announced iPhone 4S. In addition to filling infringement claims in France and Italy, Samsung will also look to file similar claims to block the sale of the iPhone 4S in other countries.

The two preliminary injunctions that are going to be filled today in France and Italy are on the grounds that Apple’s new iPhone 4S handset infringes upon two of Samsung’s patents related to WCDMA standards for 3G-enabled devices.

Here is what Samsung had to say about the Apple, the iPhone 4S, and the latest on the patent war:

“Apple has continued to flagrantly violate our intellectual property rights and free-ride on our technology….We will steadfastly protect our intellectual property.”

Will Samsung get their wish to have the sale of the iPhone 4S banned in France and Italy? Only time will tell. I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough. In the mean time, you can check out the comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S II and the newly announced iPhone 4S.
