It looks like Samsung is definitely committed to improve their post-purchase product support. The Samsung Galaxy S II has just received its first firmware update even though it hasn’t released in many countries such as the US.
It looks like the updates came into two parts updating the SGS II’s firmware to version i9100XWKE2 and bringing the following enhancements:
- The first update makes Swype more responsive and fixes a few connectivity issues
- The second update fixes the auto brightness issue
If you happen to have a rooted Galaxy S II, you will still be able to keep your root. This update can be downloaded via the Samsung Kies app (you’ll have to plug in the phone to your computer) and you won’t be able to find it through the update tool in your Galaxy S II. Hats down to Samsung for standing by their new flagship handset, let’s all hope that this becomes a new habit for the South-Korean phone manufacturer.
