The Samsung Galaxy Gear S was announced last week. Samsung decided to load it with its own Tizen OS instead with Android Wear. I have to admit that Tizen isn’t that bad at all and I would even go further and say that it is a little more advanced than Android Wear. Battery life for one is much much better.
The Gear S in unlike any smartwach out there. It can actually make phone calls on its own. It has its own 3G antenna meaning that it can connect to the internet as well. The 2-inch 360 x 480 AMOLED display is curved which we have not seen on anything else. It also packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a Snapdragon 400 processor.
With specs like the ones above, the Gear S sits up there with best smartwatches. It would have had a shot at being the best, if it was made compatible with most Android devices, and not exclusively with Samsung’s own phones.
