Six month after announcing the Galaxy Pro line of tablets, Samsung announced more tablets today. During the “Tab into color” Premiere event, they unveiled the Galaxy Tab S. The new line is thinner and a slightly faster than the Pro tablets. Samsung says that this is their best tablet yet.
The Galaxy Tab S will sport either an 8.4-inch or a 10.5-inch QHD Super Amoled display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, Exynos Octa or Snapdragon processors, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, 3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, microSD slot expandable to 128GB, NFC, WiFi, LTE (depends on model), Bluetooth and 4900/7900 mAh battery (8.4/10.5). It will measure 212.8 x 126.6 x 6.5 mm (8.4) and will weigh 294 grams for the 8.4 and 465 grams for 10.5.
Samsung also announced their partnership with companies like National Geographic, Netflix and a slew of well know magazine such as Elle, Rolling Stones and HGTV to being High-Def content to the Tab S. Comics fans will definitely appreciate the addition of Marvel Unlimited which they will have a free 3-month pass.
The 6mm thin Samsung tablet will be available in titanium bronze and dark gray. The WiFi S 8.4-inch slate will sell for 399 while the S 10.5 will go for $499. They will both be up for pre-order starting tomorrow, June 13 at 12:00 AM EST at Samsung.com and will be available for purchase in July in all major retail locations. The LTE models for all US carriers will launch later on this year.
