New Samsung Zipel oven can be controlled from an Android app

The future of cooking has arrived in South Korea. Samsung has released its new Zipel oven, model number MC368GAAW5A. So why is this new Samsung oven featured on an Android site? Because it can be controlled via an Android app when connected to a Wi-Fi network. From the app, you will be able to select over 160 different preset dishes that you can cook, and be able to receive weight and caloric content of the food you’re cooking.

Based on the information available, it looks like the app only works when your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the network. So for now, it doesn’t look like one would be able to control the oven when outside of the home. Although it could definitely be possible, Samsung might have removed that feature for a number of safety reasons (people accidentally turning on their ovens while far away from home, etc).

Even with its limitation, it’s nice to see that home appliances are slowly getting connected, allowing us to remotely monitor and control them.

Unfortunately, you’re not going to see this smart oven in the U.S. anytime soon. It’s only currently available in South Korea.
