The sequel to LG’s first 3D phone, the Optimus 3D (LG Thrill 4G here in the States) is finally official. While it was rumored that the phone was going to launch as the LG CX2 (and then as the LG Optimus 3D Max), LG decided that the successor to the Optimus 3D is going to be called the LG Optimus 3D Cube!
The Optimus 3D Cube features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a large 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D display, 16GB of internal storage, NFC support, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The phone has been reduced to 9.6mm compared to the Thill’s 11.9mm thickness. On the back, the Optimus 3D cube will have dual 5-megapixel cameras that will allow for shooting video and taking pictures in 3D.
What really makes the Optimus 3D special will be its ability to handle 3D video and photo editing directly on its glasses-free display, a feature that will only be available on this phone.
The phone is going to be available to users in South Korea’s SK Telecom starting in March. No other countries have been announced, but you can be sure that it will be making its way to other places shortly after its release.
We will be hearing more about the Optimus 3D cube from LG during Mobile World Congress. As soon as more information is available, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
