Today, LG announced another successor to the Optimus 3D with the Optimus 3D Max. Why another you might ask? Because yesterday they announced the Optimus 3D Cube, a 3D phone that will be heading to South Korea’s SK Telecom.

The Optimus 3D Max will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch 3D WVGA display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, dual 5-megapixel cameras for 3D/2D content, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 1520mAh battery, HSPA+ 21 connectivity, HDMI, DNLA, NFC support, and much more.

The Optimus 3D Max will first be launching in South Korea in March and then will roll out to other markets, starting with Europe. For those of you worried about it running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, LG says that it will be upgraded to 4.0 shortly after launch.

So what’s the main difference between this phone and the Optimus 3D Cube which was announced yesterday? It looks like the Optimus 3D Cube will be a South Korea-only handset. In addition the 3D Cube features 16GB of internal storage and a 4.3-inch Nova IPS display compared to the 3D Max’s 8GB and 4.3-inch brightened WVGA display.

We’ll be hearing more about this phone next week at Mobile World Congress.

“LG says that it will be upgraded to 4.0 shortly after launch.” Yeah, right. We all remember what happened to LG Thrill 4G. Where is Gingerbread update they promised? Their words mean nothing!
