FYI, Google is now rolling out a new update to is Play Services application bringing its version to 6.0. Not a major update but it is essential to the well being of your phone. Perhaps the highlight of this new version is a refreshed Google Fit API with some Android L developer flair.

Google Play services 6.1 adds Enhanced Ecommerce analytics support from Google Tag Manager and offers new improvements to the Google Drive Android API. With the latest release, we’re also including a refresh of the Google Fit developer preview, so that you can test your fitness apps on any Android device.

Not everyone will receive this update at the same time. In fact, you may have had gotten it and not noticed. You can check by going to your ‘apps’ section in the ‘Settings’ menu and see what version you have,  If you however want to install this new Google Play Services update, we have a link to the APK file – courtesy of Android Police.
