Google Movies announced today for Android phones and tablets

In addition to Google Music, today Google announced the release of Google Movies, a movie rental service for Android devices. This new service enable Android users to stream movies directly to their smartphones and tablets, here is how it will work:

  • Android users can rent movies starting at $1.99
  • They will be a 30-day rental period
  • Users will have the option to playback their movies using the “pinning” feature to watch movies when there is no data connectivity.
  • Google Movies will immediately work on Android 3.1 tablets while smartphones running on Android 2.2 will be getting it within a few weeks. Verizon Motorola Xoom owners with Android 3.1 can, now, go onto the Android Market and get a movie. Let us know how it is working for you!
