Google Ad says Sony Xperia Ion coming to AT&T in June

by Zack NebbakiMay 7, 2012

While I was checking my email today, I bumped into a Google ad saying that the Xperia Ion will release in June. The Sony handset was announced back in January at CES and was scheduled to launch sometimes in Q2 of this year. The Xperia Ion is AT&T’s variant of the Xperia S which is already available in Europe.

The Sony handset will sport a 4.6-inch 1280 x 720 display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, PlayStation Certification and Android 2.3 Gingerbread-upgradable to ICS. Details about pricing are still up in the air but we can at least say that we’ll see the Xperia Ion sometimes next month. For more info, check out our hands-on video with the phone at CES.

I just wanted to point this out, but you are aware that the Ion is not a variant of the Xperia S at all. It’s an entirely different device.
