Yep, you read it right! Samsung has confirmed that both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab will not get Ice Cream Sandwich. The Korean phone manufacturer blamed their inability to bring the update on the fact that TouchWiz and other features on their devices will not be able to run smoothly and that these “old” devices have insufficient memory space to handle it.
Let’s not forget that Samsung actually succumbed to the demands of their customers and said, just a week ago, that they will be reviewing the possibility of bringing Android 4.0 to the Galaxy S and Tab (not the 10.1).
We don’t see how any of these devices couldn’t handle stock Android. After all the Nexus S, already updated to ICS, has very similar features as the Galaxy S. Let’s hope Samsung changes their stance and maybe come up with a lighter version of TouchWiz, which will be “compatible” with the new Android 4.0.
