Last week, XDA Developer user JackpotClavin showed us some pictures of CyanogenMod 7 running on the $199 Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. Unfortunately, he didn’t provide the tools and files necessary for us to load the popular custom ROM on our Kindle Fire tablets.
That’s not the case anymore. If you would like to try out CM7 on your Kindle Fire, you can now do so at your own risk. All the necessary files and instructions are now available for you to download. Before you get all excited, this is still an alpha build, and some things are still not working. As of right now there is no sound or hardware acceleration. Besides those two things, many users are reporting that things are running smoothly on the tablet.
If you’re willing to try something new, give CyanogenMod 7 on the Kindle Fire a shot. Head over to XDA Developers for complete instructions.
