While many of you may opt for the ASUS Transformer Prime for its quad-core processor and other high-end specs, there are folks out there who just want a basic and affordable tablet with simple features to do light web browsing and check emails. Electronic manufacturers such as Coby base all of their marketing efforts onto offering cheap/affordable products like the tablets that are currently in display at CES.
We had the chance to play around with the MID-9742 which is Coby’s 9.7-inch tablet. It sports a 1GHz single-core ARM Cortex A8 processor, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, front and rear cameras, microSD slot, HDMI port and Android 4.0. Overall, Coby will release over nine ICS-powered tablets in total with all of them sharing the same processor, 512MB to 1GB of RAM, 4-8GB of internal storage and more.
These Coby tablets will come pre-loaded with Getjar instead of the Android Market. The release date is set for April 2012. Expect to pay less than $300 for any of these tablets.
