While at CES, we decided to swing by the Panasonic booth to check out their Android tablet, the ToughPad A1 which was announced back in November. And just in case, you wanted to get one these bad boys, be ready to shed a hefty $1300. As per the Panasonic rep, it will release sometimes in Q2 this year.
As far as specs are concerned, the ToughPad A1 packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Marvell processor embedded with hardware security, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 16GB of internal storage with an SD card slot, a removable battery, a stylus pen and Android 3.2 upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. This 2.1lbs-tablet is ML-STD-810G and IP65 certified which means that it will withstand all types of weather and can survive falls from up to 4 feet. The 10.1 XGA 1024 x 768 display is made out of Gorilla-like glass which is anti-reflective, anti-glare and scratch-resistant.
The ToughPad A1 sports 4G LTE radios and will work on Verizon and AT&T. Panasonic is also working with sprint to bring a WiMax compatible ToughPad.
