We started our third day at CES by going to the Sony booth to check out the Sony Xperia Ion which was announced three days ago right here in Vegas. It is is scheduled to launch in Q2 of this year and we weren’t able to get any price information about it.
The NFC-ready Sony Ion sports a 4.6-inch 720p display with Mobile Bravia Engine, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 12-megapixel 1080p rear camera, 1.3-megapixel 720p front camera, 16GB of internal storage expandable with a microSD card (up to 32GB), a 1900 mAh battery and 4G LTE radios. One of the coolest features that this phone has is definitely the dedicated camera button which allows you to take snapshots on-the-fly when the phone is locked. It also has an LED notification light on the top right of the display.
Sony may have a winner here guys, the Xperia Ion was really snappy and responsive. We really enjoyed playing with it and we cannot wait to review it. Check out our hands-on video below and let us know what you think.
