Asus to release quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3-powered Android tablet sometime after October

According to a report by Digitimes, Asus is working on the second generation Eee Pad Transformer, which will be powered by NVIDIA’s upcoming quad-core processor, code named Kal-el (Tegra 3). The Transformer successor will run Google’s upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and is set for an October launch at the earliest. It makes sense for Asus to start working on successor to the wildly popular Eee Pad Transformer. According to sources from notebook component makers, Asus has shipped over 400,000 Eee Pad Transformers during the first half of 2011, making them the largest tablet PC brand (outside of Apple’s iPad).
