Amazon sells out of the Kindle Fire a week before unveiling its successor

If you were hoping to get your hands on an Amazon Kindle Fire, you might have to do get one from somewhere other than Amazon.com. Today, Amazon announced that they’ve sold out of Kindle Fire tablets. So why make such a big announcement about being sold out? Why not just get more in stock and keep the party going? One answer: Kindle Fire 2.

Amazon is planning on announcing the successor to the Kindle Fire at a press event that scheduled for September 6. So, if you were planning on getting a Kindle Fire, you might as well just hold on because a newer, better one is going to be announced soon, and it’s probably going to be the same price.

In addition to telling the world that they were out of Kindle Fire, Amazon also dropped some numbers. According to the online retail giant, the Kindle Fire captured 22% of the US tablet market. In addition, it also was the number one selling item on Amazon.com and has earned over 10,000 5-star customer reviews.
