Acer has just announced the release date and pricing information for its Iconia Tab A500 tablet. The A500 will be available exclusively at Best Buy starting on April 24 and will sell for $450. The Iconia Tab A500 is a WiFi-only device. A similar tablet with 3G connectivity, the A501, will launch on AT&T later this summer.
If you feel the need to make sure that you have one on launch day, you can pre-order it online now. You will be able to pre-order in-store starting on April 14.
The Iconia Tab A500 is Acer’s first Android tablet and its specs are right on par with the Motorola Xoom. It features a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz, 1GB of RAM, 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 LCD screen, 16GB of flash storage, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, HDMI out, Wi-Fi, 8 hours of battery life.
A similar model will launch in Europe but won’t be Acer branded. Instead it will be released by Packard Bell as the Liberty Tab.
