If you are tired of your stock Android browser and want to try something else, Dolphin Browser HD from MoboTap is a very good alternative. It has over 79k reviews in the android Market with an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Version 5.0 of the Dolphin Browser has brought a lot of enhancements over its predecessor. The folks at MoboTap removed ads from the browser, redesigned its user interface with an added speed dial feature, increased browsing speeds, upgraded their theme add-ons and fixed many bugs such as fore close and page loading issues. One of my favorite features is the tabbed interface — it allows you to open as many tabs as you want but you’ll have to do it at your own risk because it will definitely slow down your phone.
Once you open a new tab, you will automatically get a speed dial view which will display all your favorite websites and will also let you add them on-the-go by simply clicking on the “+” button. You will also find a “most visited” section on the bottom of your screen.
If you swipe your finger to the right, the bookmark bar will appear with some preset sites and will allow to easily add your favorite bookmarks to it. There is also a “Quick Access” button on the bottom of the page that lets you easily access your history, settings, add-ons, themes, gesture and bookmarks. And if you swipe your finger to the left, the add-ons tab will appear with an option to go on “full-screen mode.”
Gesture is, hands down, my favorite feature of the Dolphin Browser. It lets you to draw your own personal patterns specific to a preferred site or action such as refreshing a page or opening a new tab.
To complement all of these great features, the Dolphin Browser is free application at the Android Market. Don’t forget to check out the huge list of add-ons which includes themes, PDF viewer, Dolphin Translate and many other cool ones.
